Shillong (Meghalaya), Dec 20: In a significant move, the Meghalaya government has announced a major reshuffle in the state police department, transferring and promoting 20 officers with immediate effect.
The promotions include two IPS officers, Davis N. Rangsa Marak and Aditya Goenka, who have been promoted to the rank of Inspector General of Police, while Vivekanand Singh and Sylvester Nongtnger have been promoted to Deputy Inspector General of Police.
The transfer orders, issued by the Home (Police) Department, also include the transfer of several senior police officers, including Superintendents of Police and Deputy Superintendents of Police.
Some of the notable transfers include the posting of Dewansh Pandey, IPS, as Superintendent of Police, City, East Khasi Hills, Shillong, and Ishan Gupta, IPS, as Superintendent of Police, CM Security.
The move is aimed at strengthening the police administration in the state and improving law and order, said sources.
The transferred officers are expected to take charge of their new assignments immediately.
