Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 15: In the aftermath of the recent coal mine accident at Thangsko, East Jaintia Hills District, the Meghalaya government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident.

Led by Deputy Inspector General of Police (ER) Vivekanand S. Rathore, the SIT comprises officers from various ranks and districts. The team’s mandate includes ascertaining the cause and circumstances leading to the incident, identifying violations of court orders and NGT directions related to illegal mining activities, and ensuring a time-bound investigation to bring the case to its logical conclusion.
