Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 8 : The Meghalaya government has stepped up its efforts to curb the growing menace of drug abuse in the state. A review meeting was held with key departments, including Health, Social Welfare, and Police, to assess the progress of the Government’s Dream Mission program. As part of the initiative, detoxification and de-addiction centers will be established in all districts, with plans to operationalize them within the next 3-4 months.
These centers will be set up in government hospitals or through partnerships with private and faith-based organizations. The government has also directed the installation of CCTVs in hotspot areas and emphasized close collaboration with stakeholders to tackle the issue effectively. With a firm commitment to eradicating the drug menace, the government has assured a serious and resolute response to the problem.
