Shillong (Meghalaya), Aug 4: The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) in Meghalaya successfully recovered the body of an elderly man from the Umshing River in Mawlai Umshing area today, August 4. A team led by Inspector Romario B Marak was activated by the District Disaster Management Authority, East Khasi Hills, and reached the spot at 9:15 AM.
They recovered the body within 15 minutes and later handed it over to the police.
The prompt response by the SDRF team highlights their efficiency in handling emergency situations. The recovery operation was carried out smoothly, reflecting the team’s expertise and preparedness in search and rescue operations.
In another incident, Teseng M Sangma, an agriculture officer from Ampati, South West Garo Hills, was swept away by strong currents while attempting to cross the Ganol River at Sella Wari near Tura on Sunday Aug 3. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) launched a search and rescue operation, which continued on today, Aug 4, with the team concentrating their efforts in the downstream area of the river at Pelga Wari. Despite extensive efforts, the officer remains missing.
