Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 19: In a significant milestone for Meghalaya’s healthcare landscape, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma inaugurated the Apollo Trinity Medical Center here today. The ceremony was attended by Health Minister Dr. M Ampareen Lyngdoh, Chief Secretary D P Wahlang, and Rana Dasgupta, Regional CEO – East, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited.
The Apollo Trinity Medical Center is a collaborative effort between the Meghalaya government and Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited. Chief Minister Sangma expressed his pride in witnessing the completion of the project, which he had been personally involved in since its inception.
Sangma emphasized the government’s commitment to improving healthcare services, highlighting that Meghalaya allocates nearly 9% of its total budget to healthcare, the highest in the country. He acknowledged the need for better diagnostic services and expressed hope that the new center would help reduce out-of-pocket expenses for citizens who often have to travel outside the state for medical tests and treatments.
The Apollo Trinity Medical Center is equipped with advanced diagnostic services, including ECG, TMT, echocardiography, and more. The center plans to introduce dialysis, endoscopy, CT scans, and MRI services in its second phase of expansion.
