Shillong(Meghalaya), Nov 2 : A spell of inclement weather has dealt a harsh blow to Meghalaya’s cricket teams, forcing the abandonment of crucial matches. The Col CK Nayudu Trophy Elite Group match against Goa was called off due to a waterlogged outfield, while the Ranji Trophy plate group match against Bihar in Patna has been reduced to a nail-biting wait.
In a match that did see a result, Mizoram emerged victorious in the U-19 Women’s T20 Trophy plate group, defeating Meghalaya by six wickets in Lucknow. Meghalaya struggled to post a competitive total, being restricted to 50/9 in 20 overs, which Mizoram chased down with ease, losing four wickets in the process.
The weather woes have left Meghalaya’s cricket teams in a precarious position, with their fate in the tournaments hanging in the balance. Can they bounce back from this setback and make a strong comeback in the competitions? Only time will tell.
