Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 17: Shillong Lajong FC delivered a crushing blow to Ryntih FC, defeating them 10-0 in the OC Blue Shillong Premier League 2024 at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here today.
In a dominant display, Deibormame Tongper scored an unprecedented seven goals (8′, 22′, 24′, 29′, 46′, 53′, 57′) to take his season’s tally to 17, cementing his position as the top scorer. Riborlang L Lyngkhoi (36′, 61′) and Yohaan Benjamin (51′) added to the rout.
The victory marked a dismal day for Ryntih FC, who had previously lost 10-1 to Mawlai SC. The defeat raises concerns about Ryntih’s defensive capabilities.
In the second match, Mawlai SC asserted their dominance with an 8-1 win over Nongrim Hills SC. The results have significant implications for the league standings, with Shillong Lajong FC and Mawlai SC emerging as strong contenders.
