Shillong (Meghalaya), Sep 15: The East Khasi Hills District Police have issued a stern advisory cautioning individuals and social media users against uploading and circulating graphic content related to the deceased body of a minor from Nongrah. The minor’s body was recovered recently after going missing on Sept 14,
The police have expressed concern that such thoughtless acts are severely affecting the family members of the victim and society as a whole, showing a lack of respect for the victim and their family. SP, East Khasi Hills, Vivek Syiem , has urged all individuals, YouTubers, and social media users to refrain from sharing such content on any platform, including WhatsApp status, and to take down existing posts immediately.
Failure to comply with the advisory may attract serious legal implications, and the police will take strict action against those who disregard the request. The advisory aims to ensure respect for the victim and their family during a sensitive and traumatic time, and to prevent further distress to those affected.
