Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 19: Nangkiew Irat SC secured a thrilling 2-1 victory over Nongthymmai SC in the OC Blue Shillong Premier League 2024 at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here today.
An own goal in the 49th minute and a strike from Banraplang Nongsteng in the 78th minute gave Nangkiew Irat a two-goal cushion. However, a mistake by goalkeeper Surjay Kumar Pariyar allowed Nongthymmai’s Mowell Chyne to reduce the margin in the 87th minute.
In a nail-biting finish, Surjay redeemed himself by saving Donboklang Majaw’s penalty kick in stoppage time, securing the win for Nangkiew Irat.
The victory took Nangkiew Irat to 19 points, but they remained in sixth place. Nongthymmai, meanwhile, stayed in ninth place, with only three games left to try and avoid relegation.
