Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 28: The Na Thymmei Festival, a vibrant celebration of Meghalaya’s indigenous culture, concluded its second edition yesterday at the historic Madan Weiking in Jaiaw ,here .
Organized by Seng Khasi Kmie, a socio-cultural organization founded in 1899, the festival aims to preserve and promote the state’s rich traditions.
The two-day event featured an array of cultural experiences, including traditional dances, musical performances, local theater, and film screenings. The festival showcased the state’s diverse traditions, highlighting its unique cultural identity.
A highlight of the festival was the traditional beauty contest, “Khasi Ka Khadduh,” where participants showcased their traditional attire and cultural knowledge.
The traditional beauty contest winners were Miss Khasi Ka Khadduh: Angela Nongkynrih, first runner-up: Rimiki Kharkongor and second runner-up: Wanbriehun Khongsit.
The winners were selected based on their traditional attire, cultural knowledge, and personality.
Launched in 2022, the festival has earned widespread recognition, supported by the Department of Tourism, Meghalaya.
