Shillong ( Meghalaya), Aug 13 : The Meghalaya State Education Commission has submitted a comprehensive report to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, outlining a roadmap for transforming the state’s education sector. The commission, established in July 2023 to align Meghalaya’s education system with the National Education Policy 2020, has made key recommendations on school consolidation, higher education reform, teacher training, student performance, and structural transformation.
The report is the result of extensive consultations with educators, professionals, and teacher associations, and aims to improve access, quality, and learning outcomes in the state’s education system. The commission’s suggestions address critical areas such as teacher salary gaps, recruitment delays, and governance in schools and colleges.
Chief Minister Sangma has assured that the government will carefully review the recommendations and adapt them into policy measures. An Expert Committee will be constituted to take the suggestions forward, with plans to implement reforms in phases. The report’s submission marks a significant step towards shaping Meghalaya’s education future, and stakeholders are optimistic about the positive impact it will have on the state’s education landscape.
