Shillong ( Meghalaya) , Sep 16 : Meghalaya’s cabinet is on the brink of a major reshuffle, with Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma reportedly planning to drop several ministers from his council. Eight ministers have already submitted their resignations, paving the way for new inductees. The ministers likely to face the axe include:
Ampareen Lyngdoh, Health Minister (NPP), potentially to be replaced by Sosthenes Sohtun, MLA from Jirang.
Abu Taher Mondal, Power Minister (NPP), likely to be replaced by Brening A. Sangma , Dalu MLA.
Rakkam A. Sangma , Education Minister (NPP), likely to be replaced by Timothy D. Shira , Resubelpara MLA and former Deputy Speaker.
Comingone Ymbon, Food and Civil Supplies Minister (NPP), potentially to be replaced by Wailadmiki Passah , MLA from Jowai.
Paul Lyngdoh , Tourism Minister (UDP), likely to be replaced by Metbah Lyngdoh , UDP president and Mairang MLA.
Kyrmen Shylla , Revenue and Disaster Management Minister (UDP), potentially to be replaced by Lahkmen Rymbui, Amlarem MLA.
Shakliar Warjri , Sports Minister (HSPDP), expected to step down and be replaced by Methodius Dkhar Mawshynrut MLA.
Alexander Laloo Hek , Animal Husbandry Minister (BJP), to be replaced by Sanbor Shullai , South Shillong MLA.
The swearing-in ceremony for the new ministers is scheduled to take place at 5 pm today at Raj Bhavan here. The cabinet overhaul is attributed to various factors, including the need to balance representation among coalition partners and strengthen the government ahead of upcoming political challenges.
