Shillong ( Meghalaya), March 19 : In view of the power regulation imposed by NEEPCO, the Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MePDCL) has been compelled to resort to load shedding with effect from 00:00 Hours of March 20 , as per the following schedule until further notice.
The load shedding schedule and areas to be affected are as follows :
00-06 Hrs Garo Hills & Shillong
06-09 Hrs Jaintia & Ribhoi (Public)
09-12 Hrs Khasi Hills,Jaintia Industries & Shillong
12-14 Hrs Jaintia & Jaintia Industries & Ribhoi (Public) & Garo Hills
14-16 Hrs Khasi Hills & Jaintia Industries including Shillong & Garo Hills
16-18 Hrs Jaintia & Jaintia Industries & Byrnihat Industries
18-20 Hrs Byrnihat Industries & Ribhoi (Public)
20-24 Hrs Byrnihat Industries
However, the above schedule and duration may change depending on the real time grid condition and the quantum of load to be shed.
Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) has failed to clear its dues to NEEPCO which is presently the only electricity supplier to the State.
NEEPCO has issued written order to the North Eastern Regional Load Despatch Centre to snap electricity supply to Meghalaya for six months unless the State government clears the pending dues amounting to Rs 504.41 crore.
The dues of MeECL to NEEPCO has piled up to Rs 156.70 crore as on March 15 plus late payment surcharge (LPS) of Rs 347.71 crore.
The total dues as on March 15 stand at Rs 504.41 crore.
