Shillong ( Meghalaya), Feb 26 : In a significant move to bolster the state’s security apparatus, Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has announced that the government will soon issue appointment letters to 3,000 aspiring police personnel. This initiative aims to fill existing vacancies and strengthen the state’s policing capabilities.
With around 1,000 posts still vacant, the recruitment drive is a crucial step towards achieving the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) guidelines for police-population ratio. The state currently has 86 police stations and a sanctioned strength of 3,486 personnel, with 2,832 officers on board.
Recently, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma distributed appointment letters to 76 newly appointed Sub-Inspectors, emphasizing their pivotal role in maintaining law and order.
