Shillong (Meghalaya) , Dec 15 : In a thrilling match, Meghalaya staged an incredible comeback, rallying from 2 goals down to draw 2-2 with Tamil Nadu in the Santosh Trophy final round opener.
The match, held at the Deccan Arena in Hyderabad, saw Tamil Nadu take a 2-goal lead in the first half, thanks to goals from Pandiyan Sinivasan and Alexander Romario Jesuraj. However, Meghalaya’s Damanbhalang Chyne scored two crucial goals in the 50th and 69th minutes to level the score.
Meghalaya’s coach, Hering Shangpliang, made some strategic substitutions, bringing on Khrawkupar Jana and Fairming Suting, which helped turn the game around. Despite efforts to take the lead, the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
This result is just a minor setback for Meghalaya, as they look to progress to the quarterfinals. They’ll face Kerala in their next match on Tuesday at 7:30 pm.
