Shillong (Meghalaya), May 4 : Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong today informed that Meghalaya Government has paid to manufacturing company for supplying 42,000 vaccines to the state.
Tynsong said the vaccines will be used for vaccination of young people between 18 and 44 years of age. “The vaccines are being sent to Meghalaya and they are expected to reach the state in the next few days”, Tynsong said, adding that these vaccines will be given free of cost at the Government hospitals. He however, reiterated that these same vaccines will be given free of cost at Private Hospitals.
On the availability of oxygen cylinders is still sufficient in the state. “About 200 patients are hospitalized currently and 180 of them required oxygen”, he said. While making an ardent appeal, Tynsong said people should respect the director and notification of the Government issued from time to time to arrest the spread of the virus.
The Government of India has already sanctioned additional allotment of free rice under PMGKAY for May and June and this addition quota will be given to Ration Card Holders under AAT and PHH categories for 5 Kg free rice to each family member, Tynsong said.
He also informed that he has already instructed the whole sale dealers to lift the rice from the different FCI and this quota is meant for the month of May and June. When asked about the availability of essential commodities in the state, Tynsong said people should not panic, as there is sufficient stock of essential commodities in the state.
