Shillong ( Meghalaya), April 9: The Commissioner and Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department Ms R. Lyngdoh today felicitated frontline and COVID warriors of East Khasi Hills District during a felicitation programme of frontline workers cum sharing of experiences workshop organized by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Khasi Hills District, at Shillong Club.
The programme was attended by Ms . Isawanda Laloo, Deputy Commissioner and Chairperson District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), S. Nongtnger, Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills District, Miss D. Phawa, ADC and CEO, DDMA, East Khasi Hills District beside senior officers and incharge of different Covid cells of the District.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms.Lyngdoh congratulated the District Disaster Management Authority of all the eleven Districts in the State for the role they have played in the fight against the Covid pandemic.
She also lauded the service rendered by frontline workers who have been working round the clock and sacrificing their personal lives, families and even their own safety for containing the spread of Covid-19 and helping the needy will be remembered for generations to come.
Ms . Lyngdoh remind, as government employees it is our duty to comfort, provide and deliver our service for the safety of the people of the state. She also expressed confidence that with the experience of the the last one year, the District administration and the state as a whole would be able to handle the second wave systematically.
For prevention of Covid, Ms, Lyngdoh appealed to all the citizens of the State to strictly follow the health protocols like wearing masks , wash hand frequently, use of sanitiser and maintaining of social distance .
As part of the programme, officers incharge of various cell shared their experiences faced by them during the ongoing fight against COVID-19.
Other highlights of the programme, included distribution of appreciation certificates by the Commissioner and Secretary to officers and staff of the District for performing their COVID duties at various capacity and release of a documentary video on COVID-19 management in East Khasi Hills District and Coffee Table Book naming “Taming the Panic” highlighting the efforts made by the District administration in fighting against COVID-19.
