Shillong( Meghalaya), Feb 15 : Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today announced that cash awards for ‘Param Vir Chakra awardees’ will be enhanced from Rs 1 Lakhs to Rs 5 Lakhs. This was announced by Sangma during the Meghalaya State Ex-Servicemen Rally held at Assam Regimental Centre at Happy Valley here

He also announced that gratia payment of ₹15 Lakhs has been sanctioned by the state govt. to the next of kin of (L) Havildar Hampiar R Marak of the 59 Medium Regiment, a resident of Mendipathar, who died in the line of duty along the LoC in Jammu & Kashmir.
The state govt. will also enhance the Annuity to Award winner (PVC) from ₹1,000/- per month to ₹10,000/- per month.
He also announced one Govt. job in the office of the Director, Sainik Welfare Board for one member of the family of (L) David Manlun, Kirti Chakra who as martyred on 6th June 2017 during counter insurgency operation in Nagaland.
He also announced that Rs 4 Crores has also been sanctioned for the Sainik Guest House in Shillong which will accommodate the office of the Director of Sainik Board.
Moreover, the house tax to ex-servicemen/widows residing in Meghalaya including the Municipal areas will be exempted.
