Shillong ( Meghalaya ), April 17 : The surge in Covid cases in the past one week continues with a total of 95 cases detected in the state on Saturday .
Among the new cases today 50 were reported from East Khasi Hills , 16 from West Jaintia Hills , 11 from West Khasi Hills , 10 from Ri Bhoi , 6 from East Jaintia Hills and 1 each from West Garo Hills and South West Khasi Hills .
11 patients were declared recovered today .
On Thursady a 36-year-old patient identified as Bron Narlong of Umklai village from Nongpoh Ri-Bhoi district succumbed to his infections at Civil Hospital here . He was admitted to Nongpoh Civil Hospital and was later shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital but passed away during transit .
According to official sources , he died due to acute respiratory failure and septic shock.
The state tally now stands at 14 , 798 with 649 active cases after recovery of 13,997 patients . The death toll so far stands at 152 .
