Shillong (Meghalaya), Sept 15 : 1 more seriously ill Covid patient succumbed to his infections on Tuesday afternoon taking the death toll to 29.
According to official sources , the patients has been identified as Gopal Chandra Baghdas aged 67 years from Jhalupara area of Shillong . He was admitted Shillong Civil hospital on September 12 and he was tested Covid positive .
The patient had co-morbidity like diabetes and hypertension and died due to severe acute respiratory distress syndrome due Covid -19 pneumonia.
With 172 fresh cases on Tuesday the state tally has now gone up to 4,037 . However , the active cases stand at 1,818 after a total of 2,190 patients have recovered .
Among the new cases today , East Khasi Hills reported 74 cases out which 21 were from Armed Forces ans 53 general public .
East Jaintia Hills District reported 61 new cases , Ri Bhoi District reported 23 , West Garo Hills 9, South west Garo Hills reported 2 cases and North Garo Hills, West Jaintia Hills and South Garo Hills 1 case each.
A total of 39 patients were discharged today after recovery .
