Shillong(Meghalaya), April 25 : 2 more deaths were reported in the state on Sunday taking the death toll so far due to Covid -19 in the state to 160 .
According to official sources , Ms. Purnima Lama aged 45 years from Nongmynsong locality here , was admitted to Bethany Hospital on April 23 and passed away on Sunday morning. The cause of her death was due to acute respiratory distress syndrome, Covid-19 pneumonia with Type 2 diabetes. Ms.Saira Tynsong aged 54 years of Darrang in West Jaintia Hills, was admitted to Civil Hospital here on April 18 and succumbed to her infections on Sunday morning. The cause of her death was Covid-19 infection with Type 1 respiratory failure.
Meanwhile , a total of 208 fresh Covid cases were detected in the state today taking the active cases to 1,388 .
Among the new cases , 161 are from East Khasi Hills, 14 from East Jaintia Hills, 13 from Ri Bhoi district , 9 from West Jaintia Hills 4 each from East Garo Hills and West Garo Hills and 3 from South West Khasi Hills .
The state tally has gone up to 15,994 with 1,388 active cases after recovery of 14.446 patients . The death toll so far stands at 160.
