Shillong(Meghalaya) ,Jan 25 : Awards to the prize winners of the Photography Competition on the theme “Pride of Shillong: Cherry Blossoms” were distributed at a function held at the office of the Rotary Club of Shillong in the city today.
The function was attended by Smti. M War Nongbri, Secretary, Information and Public Relations Department as Chief Guest in the presence of Guest of Honour, B. S Sohliya, Director of Information and Public Relations, Smti. A Paul, President, Rotary Club of Shillong, officers of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, members of the Rotary Club of Shillong and others.
Organized by the Rotary Club of Shillong in collaboration with the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Government of Meghalaya, the competition drew the enthusiastic participation of 85 photographers altogether and received 170 entries in all with Debraj Debbarma winning the First prize, Henry B Nongrum, the Second prize while Leeno Shylla and Dondor War Tariang jointly shared the Third Prize. Consolation prizes were also awarded to five other photographers.
Speaking at the function, Smti. M War Nongbri congratulated the participants and prize winners of the competition and stated that the photography competition on cherry blossoms was apt considering that the annually held Cherry Blossom Festival could not be organized in the year 2020 on account of the COVID-19 situation in the state and country.
Smti. War Nongbri also said that the event has contributed towards showcasing the beauty of Meghalaya to the world while further adding that the event has helped provide a source of motivation to the participating photographers.
