Ricky Chyne opened the scoring in the 17th minute, followed by Kevin Rymbai’s deflected shot in the 18th minute. Balajied Syiemlieh added a third goal in the 23rd minute, and Robert Khongriah scored twice, in the 49th and 81st minutes. Kevin Rymbai also scored a penalty in the 57th minute.
Sawmer’s Enestar Malngiang scored twice in the 68th and 79th minutes, but it was too little, too late, as Mawlai secured a convincing win. The match showcased Mawlai’s strong team dynamics, with the team going 3-0 up in just 23 minutes and leading 5-0 before Sawmer scored their first goal.
The win marks a strong start for Mawlai in the SPL 2025 season, and they look poised to build on their second-place finish in the previous season.
