Imphal (Manipur), Jan 13 : Troops of Indian Army have busted a temporary camp of the NSCN (I-M) in Manipur’s Tamenglong district and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition, said a press release from PIB ( Defence Wing).
The hideout used by cadres of NSCN(I-M) near Nungkhao village of Tamenglong district was busted on January 7 last.
The army conducted the operation based on specific information about the presence of cadres of NSCN (I-M), it stated.
Sensing the movement of security forces, the release said that panic-stricken cadres abandoned their hideout and fled from the spot leaving behind large quantity of arms, ammunition and other warlike stores.
The recovered items included one G-3 Rifle, one US made Carbine, one Country made carbine, one 9 mm and pt 22 mm Pistol each, along with assorted ammunition.
The recovered stores have been handed over to police for further investigation, the release added.
