Imphal (Manipur), Oct: A team of Narcotic and Border Affairs (NAB) police today seized a parcel containing around 950 grams of Poppy seeds from a parcel sent to an Assam Rifles personnel from Imphal head Post Office, here.
The parcel containing poppy seeds was sent from one Arif Hussian (MIR) Bandipara, Jammu & Kashmir (Pin No. 193502) to one Ritukumari HQ, Coy, 19 Assam Rifles, Noney state, Manipur – 795159 under consignment number CQ328904976IN.
The NAB team led by Officer in Charge of NAB – PS Imphal seized the parcel in the presence of an executive magistrate. A team of Imphal West Police led by the OC Imphal West was also present while seizing the poppy seeds.
According to sources, the poppy seeds was sent along with dry fruit items.
On receiving information of illegal items being sent through post office the team of NAB applied for checking of the items through proper channel and after checking the items, the NAB team found 950 gms of poppy seeds along with other items in the parcel.
