Imphal(Manipur), May 28 : In the last 24 hours in Manipur, Eleven persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur, taking the total number of such cases in the state to 50, an official said on Thursday.
Of the fresh cases, 9 male and 2 females active case were confirmed in the VRDLs of RIMS (9) and JNIMS (4). They will be shifted to covid care facilities at RIMS and JNIMS .
Their conditions is stated to be stable. All necessary control measures are put in place, the official said.
The patient who was admitted in the Covid Care facility of JNIMS was found COVID free yesterday and has been discharged today. Total number of recovered cases has increased to 5.
The total number of positive cases has increased to 55 and the number of active cases is 50.
According to a statement released by Additional Director Health Department and COVID-19 spokesperson, Dr Khoirom Sashikumar Mangang, the new cases were reported from Imphal East (2 cases-returnees from Delhi by private vehicles, one on May 12 and May 15), Imphal West (1-flight returnee from Delhi on May 25) and Thoubal district (2-returnees from Delhi and Gujarat, returnees by train) .
Churachandpur district with 18 COVID-19 patients has the highest number of cases in Manipur. Most of the latest cases are returnees from other states, the official said.
Meanwhile, the Manipur Police detained 1,064 people for violating the curfew and the lockdown norms over the past two days and collected fine amounting to Rs 70,750, Additional Director General of Police (law and order) L Kailun said.
Police said strict action will be taken against those who continue to violate the restrictions.
