Shillong ( Meghalaya), Oct 8 : Due to the incessant rain, a landslide occurred in Pynthor Langtein village under Thadlaskein C&RD Block, West Jaintia Hills District early Sunday morning where one house was partially buried by mud.
The entire family was buried alive as a massive landslide hit their house due to incessant rainfall.
On getting the information the locals and the police carried out the rescue operation.
Four people lost their lives which included the father, mother and 2 children.
Their bodies have been retrieved and necessary legal formalities will be observed.
DC, West Jaintia Hills District has been instructed to release ex gratia funds @ Rs 4 lakh per person to the next of kin immediately.
The Block Development Officer, Thadlaskein C&RD Block has been directed to render any other immediate assistance.
