Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 5: In a thrilling encounter, Nongthymmai SC pulled off a stunning 1-1 draw against Shillong Lajong FC in the OC Blue Shillong Premier League 2024 at the SSA Stadium, Polo, today.
Rimankhraw Kharumnuid’s 69th-minute strike gave Lajong the lead, but Donboklang Majaw’s equalizer in the 83rd minute sealed a historic draw for Nongthymmai. The goal marked a milestone, as it was the 200th goal of the season.
The result leaves Lajong 2 points behind leaders Mawlai SC, who have a game in hand and could extend their lead to 5 points tomorrow. Nongthymmai, despite remaining in the relegation zone, earned a crucial 8 points and snapped their 6-game losing streak.
Lajong dominated the first half but failed to capitalize on their chances, ultimately paying the price for their missed opportunities.
