Shillong(Meghalaya), May 16 : Dr. L R Bishnoi was on Monday appointed as the new DGP by the Governor of Meghalaya .
A 1991 batch of IPS ,Dr Bishnoi instead of Central Deputation to safe place played a crucial role tackling militancy in trouble torn BTAD and Assam and is the special director of training and armed force in Assam.

His name figured in the list of three empaneled officers approved by the UPSC in its meeting held on Feb 9 last .
Apart from Bishnoi, Mukesh Agrawal and KV Singh Deo, both from 1989 batch, were also shortlisted by the UPSC out of the five names sent by the state government after the retirement of R Chandranathan on Dec 21 last year .
Dr . Bishnoi will be retiring from his services in March next year .
