Shillong ( Meghaslaya), Nov 30 : The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Khanduli Umshangiar Unit in Khanduli village along the Meghalaya-Assam border today demanded that the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council should implement fully the Tea Plantation Scheme in Khanduli Village on the Meghalaya-Assam border.
Speaking to the media at Shillong Press Club here today , the President of Khanduli Umshangiar Unit, Tyngshain Krem informed that the KHADC had sanctioned Rs.2,69,07,309/- for this scheme and after spending Rs.1, 54, 88, 110/- the scheme was left unattended.
He said the JHADC should revive this scheme to benefit the people and witness that this place belongs to Meghalaya. “We do not mind who works in this tea plantation and what we want is to see that the JHADC revives this scheme in order to foil the intention of Assam authorities to set up an university in this area”, Tyngshain Krem added.
