Shillong (Meghalaya), July 29: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong recently hosted a three-day cultural immersion program for its incoming Post Graduate Programme (PGP) Batch of 2025-26. In collaboration with SPIC MACAY, a nationwide voluntary movement dedicated to promoting Indian classical arts among youth, the program showcased the richness of Indian heritage through experiential workshops and evening concerts.
The workshop series featured hands-on training in diverse art forms, including Odissi dance led by Smt. Sujata Mohapatra, Hindustani classical vocals by Pt. Omkar Dadarkar, Pattachitra painting by Smt. Kalpana Chitrakar, and yoga and mindfulness sessions by Guru Khagen Kalita.
The evening concerts were a highlight of the program, with performances by renowned artists. Shri Joydeep Mukherjee’s string recital featured rare instruments like the Sarod, Sursingar, and Mohan Veena. Pt. Omkar Dadarkar’s Hindustani vocal concert showcased his powerful voice, rooted in the Gwalior and Kirana gharanas. Smt. Sujata Mohapatra’s elegant Odissi dance performance left the audience spellbound.
The cultural immersion program marked a memorable beginning to the two-year academic journey of the PGP Batch 2025-26, fostering a deeper sense of identity and connection among the students.
