Umiam( Meghalaya ), May 23: Top leaders of the proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) in the first ever official interaction with media today at the MeECL Guest House in Umiam were hopeful that the tripartite talks slated to begin in the first week of June would lead to a peaceful solution.
The leaders of the militant group HNLC today stated that they were looking forward to the forthcoming tripartite dialogue with the government which is slated to formally begin in the first week of June.
Earlier , the deputy CM held a meeting with the HNLC political secretary, vice-chairman, executive member, and interlocutor on May 16 and it was decided that the talks will start in the first week of June.
Today’s press conference was jointly addressed by the outfit’s vice chairman Manbhalang Jyrwa, political secretary Aristerwell Thongni and foreign secretary Phrangkupar Diengdoh .HNLC representative for the peace talks Sadon K Blah who is president of the Hynniewtrep National Youth Front was also present during the press conference.
The HNLC leaders earlier had an informal meeting with government interlocutor Peter S Dkhar and Centre and state government granted a safe passage to the HNLC militant leaders, who were in their camps located in neighboring Bangladesh.
