Shillong (Meghalaya ), Sept 13: After quitting the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), former legislator Himalaya M Shangpliang today formally joined the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) here today.
Earlier on September 8, Shangpliang announced his decision to join the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) on September 13.

He was welcomed by CM & National President, Conrad K Sangma, Deputy CM, and National Vice President, Prestone Tyngsong, Deputy CM, S. Dhar and Adviser, Dr. D D Lapang and other senior party members.
Shangpliang in his joining speech said that 3000 supporters from Mawsynram, has already joined NPP and it was the development programmes and initiatives of the NPP that led him to join the ruling party.
