Shillong (Meghalaya), Mar 3 : The state police has requested citizens to restrain from sharing/publishing Misinformation & Fake News and instead report it to the police .
A statement from the police said the miscreants using its name and logo shared a fake statement on Facebook which read as: “We will arrest to all who oppose the CAA and Demand ILP, because the problem come from those people. We are here to bring peace in the State.”
The state police is initiating appropriate legal action against migrants who are adding more fuel to the fire .
According to a police statement , one Facebook user by the name ‘Khasi Paka’ had uploaded the fake statement on the Facebook page named as ‘Ka Sur U Paidbah’ using the name and logo of Meghalaya Police department with an intention of creating fake news that Meghalaya Police will “arrest those who oppose CAA and Demand ILP”.
Meanwhile, there was slight improvement in the law and order the affected areas with no major incidents reported during the day . The internet ban in Jaintia Hills of the state was also lifted today.
Seeing the improvement , the District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District has under Section 144 CrPC promulgated Curfew in Shillong agglomeration and its adjoining areas with effect from 9:00 P.M. of 3rd March, 2020 to 6:00 A.M. of 4th March 2020.
