Shillong ( Meghalaya) , Feb 9 : The state has decided to to lift few restrictions of Covid -19 in state from Feb 11 next .
Speaking to the media, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said that those who are double vaccinated need not carry out any RT-PCR tests or produce RT-PCR reports when they enter the state.
He also said that state government has decided to reopen schools from classes I to V from Feb 14 next except those in Shillong which will reopen only for Class 1-5.
Meanwhile, the state on Wednesday reported 125 fresh COVID-19 cases, 23 less than the previous day, which pushed the tally to 92,646.
The death toll also rose to 1,554 with two more fatalities.
Talks with HNLC :
The Chief Minister said that the government is trying to identify the interlocutor to initiate dialogue with HNLC in the state which has expressed its desire to hold talks with the Government.
Sangma said his government has initiated the process of identifying the state’s interlocutor when it saw press releases issued by Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) expressing its desire to hold talks with the state Government.
Sangma also added while the state Government is awaiting an official communication from the HNLC, it has already moved ahead trying to figure out some individuals to be the state’s interlocutor if HNLC comes for talks with the Government.
The CM Sangma also added that after the HNLC formally expresses its desire for holding talks with the state government, state Government will inform the Centre so that other procedures may follow in this regard.
