Shillong (Meghalaya), May 12 : Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong today informed that the state Government has decided to set two Corona Care Centres in the New Shillong Township to fight against the spread of Covid-19.
Speaking to the media after a Review Meeting chaired by Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma at the Main Secretariat here , Tynsong said one Corona Care Centre will be created at the IIM Shillong ,Mawdiangdiang where 100 beds s will be provided including Oxygen. Another Corona Care Centre will be established at the T.B Hospital , where 40 beds will be provided including Oxygen.
The Minister also said that the Health Department will receive 42,000 vaccines tomorrow and will be distributed accordingly according to the need of those vulnerable districts.
Meanwhile, Health Minister A.L Hek visited the NEGHRIMS at Mawdiangdiang in New Shillong township to encourage the staff of the institute who are providing the best of health care to the patients during the covid-19 crises. During the visit of minister, the director of NEIGHRIMS disclosed that the institute is having sufficient stock of medicines and oxygen to to be provided to the patients. The director however said that there is shortage of manpower in the institute and urged the government to appoint more doctors to cope with the situation.
Meghalya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma in a tweet said that he was happy to announce that Meghalaya will begin the vaccination for 18-44 from 14th May, 2021. The 42,000 doses ordered by the State Govt. will arrive tomorrow. Vaccines will be earmarked for vulnerable districts & Health Dept will strategize the Vaccination drive.
