Shillong(Meghalaya), Nov 27: Meghalaya lost their last seven wickets before lunch today on the fourth and final day of their U-19 men’s Cooch Behar Trophy match against Nagaland to lose the contest by 252 runs at the MCA Ground, Polo, here.
Resuming play on 120/3, some 335 runs away from an unlikely victory, Meghalaya were bowled out for 202 to hand Nagaland a resounding win. To recap, Nagaland made 245 all out in their first innings and 319/4 declared in their second, while Meghalaya had only managed 110 all out in their first innings.
After a long resistance, Kishlay Vishlux was out for 36 off 141 deliveries, having added just five runs to his overnight score. Shavian Blah was dismissed for 21, having been not out on 18 last evening and the wickets continued to fall throughout the morning session, though most of the batters did get reasonable starts.
No. 10 Charm Marbaniang delayed the inevitable for a number of overs before being the last man to get out after a delightful cameo of 21. A delivery by Rajesh Das took Marbaniang’s edge and went high into the air. After a moment’s hesitation, Das tracked back and pulled off a tricky catch in the midwicket area to the delight of his teammates.
Meghalaya will leave tomorrow for their next match, which will be against Sikkim from 1 December at the latter’s home ground in Rangpo.
