New Delhi , April 27 : Congress President Sonia Gandhi has approved the removal of former Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar and former Union food minister KV Thomas from all party posts over “anti-party activities”, reports said.
The panel also discussed the complaints about five party MLAs in Meghalaya who had extended support to the National People’s Party-led government in the state in which the BJP is an ally.
The Congress’ top leadership approved the state unit’s proposal to suspend its remaining five MLAs who unilaterally extended their support to the BJP-backed Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government, while keeping the party’s Central and state leaders in the dark.
Meghalaya Pradesh Congress President Vincent H. Pala, who had earlier recommended the suspension of the five legislators to the AICC, confirmed about the party’s central leadership’s nod.
