Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 17: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has launched PROBITES, a revolutionary probiotic-based health food product developed by alumni of St. Anthony’s College Centre for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Incubation. The product aims to promote wellness and nutrition across the state.
The launch event was held at the Dominic Conference Hall in Shillong, where the Chief Minister congratulated the PROBITES team for their innovation and encouraged them to continue leading Meghalaya’s young entrepreneurs towards success. He highlighted the state’s economic growth, with the GSDP growing from $4.4 billion in 2018 to $6.6 billion today, and outlined priority areas for development, including investment promotion, entrepreneurship, tourism, and urban transformation.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of inclusive growth, women’s empowerment, and socio-economic development, citing the expansion of Self-Help Groups from 5,800 in 2018 to 51,000 today. He also highlighted initiatives like the Meghalaya Grassroots Music Program and entrepreneurship programs like PRIME, which has incubated around 300 startups and distributed ₹38 crore in funding to entrepreneurs.
The event showcased student-led ventures and innovative products, and the Chief Minister urged young people to take early risks and pursue entrepreneurship. With a target of achieving a $10 billion economy by 2028, Meghalaya is poised for growth and development, driven by innovation and entrepreneurship.
