Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 3: In a major crackdown on illicit substances, the East Khasi Hills Anti-Narcotics Task Force (EKH ANTF) and Mawryngkneng Police Station (PS) joined forces to intercept a vehicle transporting a massive haul of ganja and alcohol from Shillong to Mizoram.
The operation, carried out on Sunday, resulted in the seizure of 10.455 kg of ganja,235 bottles of alcohol (750 ml each), 2 mobile phones, 1 driving license,1 Tata Yodha vehicle (MZ01/Z 3654) and 1 green sofa set used to conceal the contraband.
Three individuals were apprehended in connection with the seizure:
1. Sabina Lalnunmawiii (23) from Zokhawthar, Champhai, Mizoram
2. Lalrinmawia Chenkua (19) from Dapchhuah, Mizoram
3. Lalrosanga (28) from Edenthar, Tlangnuam, Aizawl, Mizoram
A case has been registered at Mawryngkneng PS under Section 20b(ii)(b)/29 of the NDPS Act. The successful operation is a testament to the EKH ANTF’s commitment to curbing the illicit substance trade in the region.
