Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 16: In a daring operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya apprehended a Bangladeshi smuggler on Tuesday, Oct 15, near the International Border in East Khasi Hills district.
The smuggler, identified as Md. Hussain Ahmad from Sylhet District, Bangladesh, was caught with bags of sugar while attempting to smuggle them into Bangladesh.
The successful operation was conducted by the alert troops of the 4th Battalion BSF, who observed suspicious movement near the border involving Bangladeshi smugglers carrying head loads. When challenged, Ahmad was apprehended, while his accomplices escaped into the dense vegetation.
This isn’t the first time BSF Meghalaya has thwarted smuggling attempts. Previously, they apprehended three Indian nationals trying to smuggle sugar into Bangladesh in August .
The seized items and Ahmad were handed over to Pynursla Police Station for further legal action
