Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh) , Mar 17 : Niki Lego who joined the US Army in June 2019 is now posted in Georgia. Till earlier last week, only a few people knew about Niki until she posted her picture in US Army uniform on her social media account. Niki, along with her picture, soon went viral and got people talking about her.
“I had changed my profile picture there days ago and somebody must have got hold of it. Hence, the buzz,” Niki told an online portal.
“I just completed my training on 5 March. It started in September last year in South Carolina and in November, I was moved to train in Georgia. After training, I have got stationed in Georgia itself and work for the system management and engineering team,” she added.
Ninong Ering, Congress leader and former Member of Parliament from Arunachal Pradesh also shared Niki Lego’s story. He called Niki’s story an ‘inspiration’ for the youth of the state.
Niki completed her education from Arunachal Pradesh and Shillong before pursuing her post-graduation in mass communication from the University of Delhi. She worked as a relationship manager in the hospitality sector before moving to the US to work as a public relation officer for various Indian-origin companies. That’s when she got a call to join the US Army and rest is history.
“Niki has been in the United States for 3 years now and she stayed in New York until last year when she joined the US Army. She was supposed to come home this month, she told us she has a 15-day break but couldn’t fly down due to the coronavirus outbreak,” Niki’s father told the portal.
