Shillong ( Meghalaya ), Feb 11 : The President of Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC ) and sitting Lok Sabha Member from Shillong , Vincent Pala today said the Congress High Command is not in favour that the five Congress legislators joining the NPP led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance Government.
Speaking to the media after the MPCC meeting here , Pala said that the members of the MPCC have given their opinion in today’s meeting and some of them are in favour of stern action against the five MLAs, as it is against the Congress ideology while another group adopted a liberal view by saying that the MLAs should be given sufficient time to respond so that the party would be able to work in harmony.
Pala also said, “We will send their views to the Party High Command to take the final call ”.
Pala categorically stated , “It is not under the jurisdiction of the MPCC to take action against the five MLAs except the High Command”. He however, reiterated that the Party High Command was very disappointed with the five Congress MLAs joining the NPP led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance Government without seeking permission from the Party High Command.
Pala said that two of the Congress legislators , Mayralborn Syiem and Mohendro Rapsang have sought time .
Pala added , “The Party High Command is holding a meeting today and a decision in this connection will be taken tonight by the Party High Command and would be communicated to the media”.
