Shillong (Meghalaya), Nov 18 : The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan recently commemorated its fifth anniversary with a special event at Raj Bhavan, here . Governor of Meghalaya, C H Vijayashankar, highlighted the critical need for collective efforts to build a drug-free society and emphasized the importance of sustained public awareness and community participation.
The Governor identified five major social challenges that require immediate attention: drugs, HIV or AIDS, TB, cancer, and teenage pregnancy. He called upon the people of Meghalaya to work together towards achieving a Nasha Mukt Bharat and administered an anti-drug pledge to participants.
Over the past five years, the campaign has made significant progress, sensitizing and educating over 14 lakh people and covering over 1,923 educational institutions. The event concluded with a renewed call for action to carry forward the mission of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and ensure a safe, healthier, and addiction-free future for the State and the nation.
