Shillong ( Meghalaya), June 16 : Days after the state became Covid free , 31 people, including 23 from East Khasi Hills , tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday , taking the tally of those undergoing treatment for the infection in the State to 42.
Majority of them are school students who got themselves tested for attending the NEHU Athletic trials and are asymptotic.

East Khasi Hills recorded 23 new cases while Ri Bhoi recorded 4 . South West Khasi Hills and West Khasi Hills recorded 3 and 1 respectively .
So far,93,869 people have contracted the infection while 1, 593 died due to the virus .
