Shillong (Meghalaya ) , Sept 14 : 2 more Covid patients succumbed to their infections on Monday taking the death toll in the state so far to 28 .
According official sources , the patients who succumbed to Covid have been identified as Iohbor Kharshohnoh ,aged 46 years and hailing from 7 mile area of Upper Shillong . He was brought to Bethany Hospital this morning and was referred to NEIGRIHMS but died while on his way . He had acute respiratory distress with Covid-19, acute gastroenteritis and lower respiratory tract infection.
The second patient has been identified as Binod Kumar Goenka aged 66 years hailing from Paltan Bazar area of the city . He was referred from Super care Hospital to NEIGRIHMS on August 25. The cause of his death was Type 1 respiratory failure with Covid-19 pneumonia and acute respiratory syndrome. . He was co-morbid and was suffering from diabetes and hypertension.
Meanwhile , 139 fresh Covid cases were detected in the the state on Monday taking the the state tally to 3,864 .
The active cases stand at 1686 after a total of 2151 patients have been discharged from various hospitals and Covid Care Centres in the state .
Among the new cases today , 124 cases were reported from East Khasi Hills District of which 39 were from Armed Forces and 85 general public which included 10 from Laban cluster , 6 from Golf Links cluster .
Ri -Bhoi District reported 12 new cases , East Jaintia Hills reported 2 cases and 1 case was reported from West Garo Hills .
A total of 76 patients were discharged today after recovery .
