Shillong(Meghalaya) , May 10 : A press conference was held today , 10th May, 2023, relating to information sharing and awareness dissemination about BA LLB, BS LLB, BBA LLB (all 5 year Dual Degree Law Programmes after Class 12) and Post Graduate Programme in Law [LL.M (Major in Corporate Law)] which will commence from July 2023 as the first batch in National Law University, Meghalaya.
Prof. Indrajit Dube, Vice Chancellor, National Law University, Meghalaya, Pravin Bakshi, Commissioner and Secretary, Education Department and E Kharumnuid, Registrar, High Court of Meghalaya briefed the media at the Meghalaya State Judicial Academy, Tapovan Building, Bivar Road, Shillong.
Talking to newspersons, Prof. Indrajit Dube, Vice Chancellor, National Law University informed that the academic session of the National Law University (NLU) will commence from July this year and the students’ online applications have started from 21st April which will end on 21st May and the admission test is slated on 28th May.
The merit list will be published on the 9th of June and classes will begin from the 10th of July, 2023.
Prof. Indrajit Dube also informed that for undergraduate courses a total of 60 students will be enrolled, with 20 each in BA LLB, BS LLB and BBA LLB honours and there will be 10 post-graduates students. He mentioned that the annual fee structure for the undergraduate and postgraduate programs is much lower than that of private colleges and universities and other national universities .
Informing that 50% of the seats in the university are reserved for the domicile residents of Meghalaya, he urged the students and aspiring lawyers of the state to take advantage of the opportunity and get themselves enrolled.
