Gagan shakti 2018: IAF holds biggest combat exercise in 3 decades over Indian Ocean Region

New Delhi / Tezpur (Assam) , April 19 : As part of its biggest combat exercise in three decades, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is carrying out massive drills involving its frontline fighter jets to test its capability to dominate the entire extended area of the Indian Ocean Region. IAF’s Sukhoi and Jaguar fighter aircraft, equipped with the potent Brahmos and Harpoon anti ship missiles, showcased their strategic reach and capability to carry out any sort of operations over the area as part of the pan-India exercise “GaganShakti”.

8 suspects in rape, killing of Indian girl plead not guilty

New Delhi , April 16 : A police vehicle carrying the accused in the gang rape and killing of an 8-year-old Muslim girl arrives at the District and Sessions court in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, India, Monday, April 16, 2018. Eight Hindu men accused in the case have pleaded not guilty in their first court appearance. Monday’s court appearance comes as angry protests over the case have spread across the country.

Lucknow ( Uttar Pradesh ) , April 13: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday arrested Bharatiya Janata Party’s Uttar Pradesh legislator Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who is accused of raping a teenager in Unnao district in June 2017,  according  to ANI .
The investigative agency charged Sengar under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and various sections of the Indian Penal Code on Thursday.

New Delhi :Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli and Bollywood star Anushka Sharma, who got married recently,  met the  Prime Minister Narendra Modi apparently to invite him for their wedding reception to be held here.
The Prime Minister’s Office tweeted a picture of the two with Modi. The two handed over to the prime minister what appeared to be an invite.

New Delhi : The cyclonic storm ‘OCKHI’ over eastcentral Arabian Sea moved further north-northeastwards with a speed of 21 kmph during past 6 hours and lay centred at 11.30  on Tueday  over eastcentral Arabian Sea near Latitude 18.5º N and Longitude 71.0º E, about 350 km south-southwest of Surat and 200 km west-southwest of Mumbai
It is very likely to continue to move north-northeastwards, weaken gradually and cross south Gujarat and adjoining north Maharashtra coasts near Surat as a deep depression by tonight.

Big Blow : Power Minister, Ymbon resigns from Mukul's government

Meghalaya: Power Minister Comingone Ymbon on Monday resigned from the Mukul Sangma cabinet due to personal reasons. 
"I hereby tender my resignation as Minister i/c Power, GAD and CnRD w.e.f. from today the 4th December, 2017 on personal grounds," Ymbon said in a letter to Chief Minister Mukul Sangma. 
Ymbon was sworn in as Minister in August this year. Sources close to him said that he would not seek re-election on Congress ticket for the state Assembly elections due early next year.
