Gold worth 1.45 crores seized while being smuggled from Myanmar

Shillong  :Acting on specific information officers of Customs  Preventive Unit Shillong rushed to Aizawl on Wednesday and intercepted three persons, two men  and a  lady ,at Aizawl in the wee hours of Thursday and seized 4.68 kg of gold valued Rs. 1.45 crores.
 
The consignment of gold was  smuggled from Myanmar and was meant for sale outside northeast. 
 
Initial investigation indicates involvement of  an organized gang in gold smuggling from Myanmar.
 
All the three persons have been arrested under the provisions of Customs Act, 1962. Further investigations are on .
