Mizoram: 114 HPC(D) militants who laid down arms get Rs 3 lakh each as part of rehabilitation package

Aizawl (Mizoram) , April 19 :All 114 militants of a Hmar militant outfit, who had laid down arms on 13 April, have received Rs 3 lakh each as part of the rehabilitation package, a senior Home department official said.
Following the signing of the memorandum of settlement by the Mizoram government and the outfit in Aizawl, the Hmar People's Convention (Democratic) leaders and cadres surrendered.

Over1100 pigs die of PRRS and other diseases in Mizoram since Jan

Aizawl (Mizoram ) , April 16 : The Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) and other swine diseases have claimed 1,146 lives of pigs and piglets in Mizoram since January this year, officials said today.
While the outbreak of swine diseases had affected almost all the eight districts of the state, it was mainly concentrated in Aizawl, Serchhip and Champhai districts, they said.

Mizoram-Maharashtra sign deal to boost investment, tourism

Aizawl (Mizoram ), April 14 :The Mizoram government and the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) have signed an agreement to boost investment and develop tourism in the northeastern state, an official said here on Saturday.
"The Mizoram government and the MTDC have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance investment and develop the tourism in the state. The MoU was signed on Friday after a Business Summit and Road Show in Aizawl," a Mizoram tourism department official said.

Mizoram: 114 terrorists give up arms and return to mainstream

Aizawl (Mizoram ) , April 13 :Two weeks after a peace accord, 114 terrorists of Hmar People’s Convention-Democratic (HPC-D) on Friday surrendered to the Mizoram government and deposited huge cache of arms and ammunition.
At the surrender ceremony, Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla said that after a talks, the state government has reached a successful settlement with the HPC-D and the “surrendered extremists now can live a normal life with peaceful co-existence with their families and friends”.

Back to Mainstream : Over 100 HPC-D Militants to Surrender in Mizoram

Aizawl (Mizoram ), April 12 :Over 100 militants of Hmar People’s Convention-Democratic (HPC-D) will surrenders with their weapons in Mizoram on Friday in line with a peace pact signed last week with the state government, an official said on Thursday.
“A total of 103 HPC-D members would surrender and deposit their 48 sophisticated arms and ammunition,” a Mizoram Home Department official said.
